Batavia is one of the “tri-cities” in Kane County, along with Geneva and St. Charles. These three towns are all connected and are located along the Fox River. Batavia is the oldest city in Kane County, first settled in 1833. It was known at the “Windmill City” since it was the largest producer of windmills at one time.
